Dawn of new magazine..!

Dr Salahuddin a renowned surgeon from Chennai has launched a new magazine கருப்பு வெள்ளை - Black & White. It is different and full of articles, features and write-ups which are informative as well as enlightening. The highlight of the first issue is the interview with the legendary writer Chinna Kuthoosi சின்னக் குத்தூசி.

The Tamil media world at present lacks direction. Cinema and Politics are the two eyes of the Tamil media. They don't educate the nuances of the cinema. There is not a single research magazine in the subject in Tamil. Cinema is nothing but glamorous photos, gossip, titbits for the Tamil media. Tamil media has never moved an inch from the Lights On column (of Vinodh) days.

And for them politics means the ever going and never ending ego clashes of various leaders of Dravidian parties. No serious stuff. You could realise the status of the Tamil media with this bitter fact: When Gujarat burned in 2002, Kumudam குமுதம் the largest circulated popular weekly didn't bother to report it. Instead it brought out back to back issues with the cover story dealing with the Kamal Hasan and Sarika divorce matter.

Amidst this gloomy scenario, the dawn of a serious magazine like Karuppu Vellai is welcome. All the Best, Doctor Sahib! Visit the web edition of Karuppu Vellai here.
A detailed introduction of the magazine by V M Khaleelur Rahman could be read here
